Clipping the Tortoises nails

Tortilla’s nails were getting long and it was time to give them a little snip to help him on his way. It’s important to cut the nail short but miss the quick (or hyponychium) of the nail, this is the part that hits the nail bed and can easily bleed if cut! I did a search first to check that this was part of the normal care of tortoises and it turns out it is as he lives indoors with us. I also found an informative article about cutting them down. And for the future I will consider cutting their beaks too, but I do not relish that thought tbh! Look at Tortilla’s stubby toenails now😬😬
